It is not an easy programme but greatly rewarding for those who can overcome the differences. Don't expect a private bath, air conditioning, pool, wall-to-wall carpeting, chauffeuring, laundry service, large rooms, or breakfast in bed. A typical "home" may have 2-3 bedrooms, one bathroom for the whole family, a living and dining room, and kitchen. Most visitors find lodging adequate but not luxurious. To be successful and to benefit from a homestay programme will depend on the effort from the students. As each home/family is different, each student undergoes a different homestay experience. Usually, the friendly, flexible, easy going, enthusiastic students tend to create a friendly, positive atmosphere. Making yourself familiar with the foreign customs and adapting yourself to their lifestyle and culture will help bridge the cultural gap between you and your hosts. It is not reasonable to expect your hosts to change their lifestyle or their daily routine during your visit. Cost: Service charge: $180 (non-refundable, one time charge). Homestay: $250 per week/single room with 3 meals daily (Min. 4 weeks). Airport Pick-up: $80 per person. Refund Policy: Students who must cancel before arrival due to unforeseen circumstances will receive a full refund (the placement and bank charges are not refundable). A written note is required. For homestay students who wish to cancel must give us 4 weeks notice in advance or will be responsible for 4 weeks. back to top
